Dr. Annette Ten Teije is an Associate Professor at the VU University Amsterdam, and has published over 100 refereed publications. Her interests in knowledge modelling, representation and reasoning concern in particular the medical domain. She has edited a book volume on the state of the art in research on medical guidelines and protocols, and has co-chaired 9 of the primary European workshops in this area over the past years. Dr. ten Teije was programme chair of the 18th International Conference on Knowledge Engineering and Knowledge Management (2012), and was the general chair of the 16th conference on Artificial Intelligence in Medicine (2017). Her students won multiple prizes and nominations for best paper awards at conferences such as HealthInf (2014, 2015, 2016), and AIME (2013 and 2015). Recently the International Medical Informatics Association has selected the paper of her PhD student Veruska Zamborlini on ‘Inferring recommendation interactions in clinical guideline’ as one of the best papers on clinical decision support of 2016. Only 3 other papers out of 1145 received this honour.
